Miami Heat's First NBA Championship
In 2006, the franchise won its first title, led by Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O'Neal. In the final, the opponent was the Dallas Mavericks , owned by Dirk Nowitzki.
After the Mavericks won the first two games, Dwyane Wade was the top scorer in the next four games and led the Miami team to come back to 4-2. Consequently, he was named Finals MVP.
The Heat still played in all four NBA Finals between 2011 and 2014, when they had the trio formed by Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh.
There were two titles, against Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs (2012 and 2013), and two defeats, against Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs (2010 and 2014, respectively).
Miami Heat's Second NBA Title
In 2011, the Mavericks thwarted LeBron, Wade and Bosh. With Nowitzki joined by Jason Kidd, the Texas franchise won the series 4-2.
The following year, the Miami Heat trio finally won their first title.
Named the 2012 NBA MVP , LeBron James was also the MVP of the Finals, leading his team to a 4-1 victory over OKC's Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant, as well as James Harden coming off the bench.
Miami Heat's Third NBA Championship
In their third NBA title, the Miami Heat achieved a memorable upset over the San Antonio Spurs.
In the sixth game, the Texan team was ahead of the scoreboard in the final seconds and very close to being champions, but an incredible 3-pointer converted by Ray Allen took the game into overtime. The Miami Heat won that game, tied the series, and clinched the title in game seven.
LeBron James was once again named Finals MVP.
In the following year, the Spurs did not hesitate and beat the Heat by 4-1, with a game system of quick exchange of passes designed by Gregg Popovich.
In the team of Tony Parker, Manu Ginóbili and Tim Duncan, the big star of the decisive series was Kawhi Leonard, elected the MVP of the Finals.

Alonzo Mourning
Alonzo Mourning joined the Miami Heat in 1995 and was the franchise's first big star. The center was twice named the best defensive player in the NBA and was once on the league's All-Time Team.
Zo, as he was nicknamed, had two stints with the Miami Heat. The first was until 2002. After a brief spell with the New Jersey Nets , he returned to Florida in 2005, where he stayed until 2008.
Alonzo Mourning's comeback came after he underwent a kidney transplant in December 2003.
In 2006, he won the NBA title with the Miami Heat. His number 33 jersey was retired by the franchise.
In his NBA career, Alonzo Mourning was in seven editions of the All-Star Game. He won a gold medal for the US national team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics .
Tim Hardaway
Tim Hardaway was signed by the Miami Heat in a trade from the Golden State Warriors during the 1995-1996 season. In the period he was in Florida, he participated in two editions of the All-Star Game and was once in the ideal quintet of the NBA.
Hardaway's performances in 1997 were instrumental in helping the Miami Heat reach the Eastern Conference Finals. The team, however, could not resist the strength of Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls.
Throughout his career, the point guard has been in five Star Games and won a gold medal at the Olympics, in the Sydney edition, in 2000.
Hardaway's number 10 jersey was retired by the Heat.
Interestingly, the Miami Heat also retired jersey number 23, in honor of Michael Jordan.
Although the greatest player of all time never started for the Florida franchise, then Heat president Pat Riley decided to honor him before his last game in Miami of the 2002-2003 season, as a tribute to his career.
Dwyane Wade
Dwyane Wade was a three-time NBA champion for the Miami Heat. He was the MVP of the 2006 Finals and was still one of the foundations of the trio formed with LeBron James and Chris Bosh in the 2012 and 2013 titles.
The point guard was selected by the Miami Heat with the fifth pick of the 2003 draft and defended the franchise until 2016.
After stints with the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers , Dwyane Wade returned to Florida in 2018 to end his career.
A 13-time NBA All-Star player, Wade is the Heat's all-time leader in points, games, assists and steals.

Shaquille O'Neal
One of the greatest players in basketball history, Shaquille O'Neal was signed by the Miami Heat after having brilliant stints with the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers . At Magic, he was runner-up in the NBA, while winning three championships with the Lakers.
On the Heat between 2004 and 2008, the center partnered with Dwyane Wade in the NBA title in 2006.
His number 32 jersey was retired by the franchise.
LeBron James
Recognized as one of the greatest basketball players of all time, LeBron James won his first two NBA titles playing for the Miami Heat.
After seven seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, he became a free agent before arriving in Florida. His announcement of his move to the Heat was broadcast on ESPN in a special called The Decision on July 8, 2010.
LeBron played four seasons for the Miami Heat and reached the NBA Finals in all of them.
In 2012 and 2013, for the Miami team, he was elected the NBA MVP and also the best player in the finals (in all, he has four MVP awards in the league and three MVP awards in the Finals).

Chris Bosh

During his time in Florida, Bosh reached four NBA Finals and won two championships.
Unfortunately, health problems prevented his career from being any longer. He retired in 2017, having appeared in 11 All-Star Games and won a gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
